What is the normal temperature of the processor
So what is the normal temperature of the processor? The normal temperature of the processor differs depending on its characteristics. However, the maximum value that can be called the normal temperature is:
- Waiting up to 45 degrees Celsius;
- Under load up to 65 degrees Celsius;
If the temperature of your processor exceeds this index, you most likely have to cool.
70 degrees and higher – it is the critical temperature for the processor. At this temperature there may be a decrease in performance. The increase of the temperature will lead to the computer restart.
In order not to bring the processor to such situations, you must check the temperature regularly. You don’t necessarily have to check every day. A check per month – more than enough.
To check the processor temperature you will need a special program. One of the simplest and best temperature checking programs is the Hwmonitor program. With this program you can find the temperature of all components in the computer, including: processor, hard disk, video card and chipset. In addition, with the help of this program you can find the voltage and the speed of rotating the coolers.
In the image above you can see the processor temperature in the Hwmonitor program. The temperature, marked as «core», is the temperature for each nucleus of the processor. The temperature «package» is the temperature of the processor housing.
For each sensor, the program displays three temperatures: current (Value column), minimum for the duration of the program (min) and maximum for the duration of the program (Max column).
Why the processor’s temperature increases
The processor temperature can exceed the normal level for several reasons. The most popular reasons are:
Dust on the processor radiator. The most widespread reason for increasing the processor temperature. Over time the radiator accumulates large amount of dust, which prevents heat transfer. If the computer does not clean at least once every six months, you will not be able to obtain a normal processor temperature.
Weak cooling system of system unit. Sometimes overheating the processor is only part of the problem. If the system unit does not cool properly, you will not be able to obtain the normal temperature of the processor and other components in the computer. Most of the time the cause of the overheating of the system unit is the dust. Sometimes other reasons appear. For example, placing the system unit even under the heating radiator.
The wrong mounted processor. It’s a pretty rare problem. It usually occurs after replacing the processor.
