Almost every day, the game manufacturers throw new titles onto the market, which outdo each other with bombastic graphics and outstanding details. However, these also require a lot of space on the hard drive. Fortunately, it does not always have to be the latest 3D game for extensive fun. Below you will find some small PC games for single and multiplayer that need little HDD memory, and which you can easily play on older systems.
The graphic in the computer games is getting better, which makes them increasingly hardware and storage space. Therefore, you can definitely be flattened: the older a game is, the less storage space is on average.
Yes. The 2D battle royal game «Zombs Royale» from this post is played, for example, via a browser and therefore does not need a HDD storage space at all.
1. Starcraft Anthology: Battle of the races
The real-time strategy game Starcraft was one of the most played strategy games in professional e-sport until it was replaced by the successor Starcraft II. In the meantime it is getting a bit old, but still very popular at LAN parties.
The science fiction adventure played in the early 26th century and focuses on a galactic struggle for dominance between three prevailing breeds: The human terrans, the genetically created, and the extraterrestrial protoss. Each breed has unique skills and properties.
The game is divided into three episodes, in which they each command a different breed. In addition to the basic game, the anthology package also contains the «Brood War» expansion. The entire history comprises 58 missions that are distributed on a total of 6 campaigns. In addition, there is also an extensive multiplayer mode in which you can compete against your teammates in real time.
Starcraft is compatible with Windows (from 95) and Mac OS (from system 7.6) needs just 80 MB free hard disk space for his data.
A notice: Under Windows 7 you may need to start compatibility mode to play Starcraft Anthology.
2. SimCity 4: I build a city
The SIMCITY 4 structure-strategy game has long since had its heyday, but still makes you really happy and still with the requested 1.6 GB also lasts in terms of space.

Your task in the game is primarily to build a city. What begins with measuring areas and determining plan squares will become a real one at the latest The challenge when it comes to ensuring electricity, water, hospitals, streets or regular garbage disposal. If something does not work as it should, they are sometimes confronted with protesting citizens.

Unfortunately, Simcity 4 does not offer a “real” multiplayer mode. However, you can help yourself by downloading city plans from a server or a cloud storage (e.g. Dropbox). The card is blocked for other users as they edit them. In this way, a kind of region can be developed together with several players.
3. Factory: im territory der aliens
In the Economic Simulation Factorio, they stranded on a foreign planet And must first go in search of raw materials and then of course also promote. They develop an infrastructure, build factories and optimize breakdowns and production paths. The aim of the game is to produce so -called «science packages», with the help of which you can research new technologies and drive the automation of your processes.

However, the matter also has a catch: The foreign planet is already populated by Aliens, who are not exactly pleased about their presenceand therefore no opportunity to make life difficult for them. And because that's not enough, the pests develop even further with increasing pollution.
The fight against the aliens can be used either alone or in multiplayer mode. There is also a free add-on in the form of a challenge package, with which campaign challenges are added. Factorio needs around 1 GB free memory on the hard drive.
4. Quake I, II and III: Game classic with a little space
If you like it a little more action-packed, you will get your money's worth with the ego-shooter series Quake. The first title of the series was published in 1996 and only takes 80 MB on the hard drive. The successors Quake II and III also fall into our storage space scheme with 80 or 490 MB.
The framework act changes from part to, but your task always remains the same: They shoot what it takes and switch off as many of their enemies as possible without going on themselves. While you can also play Quake I and II as a single player, the third part is created as a pure multiplayer title (and does not complete a load-bearing frame story).
Good to know: Quake 2 was on the index in Germany until a few weeks ago. Only in August the Federal Testing Center for Youth-Hazy Media (BPJM) lifted the indexing, which means that ID software is allowed to offer the first person shooter for the first time since 1997. Both the original version and the new edition (RTX) are available on the German side of Steam.
5. Zombs Royale: Fortnite for beginners
Zombs Royale is even more rudimentary: The 2D battle royale game needs no place on the hard drive at all. The game is only played via a web browser, but apps are also available for iOS and Android.

In the game of the American studio End Game fights on a grid-like 2D field against her friends. They are surrounded by a blue circle (the so -called «gas»), which is steadily smaller.
While they initially beat up with fists, they collect more and more weapons in the course of the game that are hiding in boxes or buildings. Do you know? It is not for nothing that the game is known under the name Fortnite.io.

6. Minecraft: The cubes have fallen
The place the open-world game Minecraft claims on your HDD ultimately depends on how many maps you already use. As a rule, they get along quite well with the older versions with 150 MB. In the Pocket Edition for Android, 10 MB is even significantly less.

With cube-shaped blocks, they build constructions into a 3D world and at the same time try to survive. Depending on the mode, there is no defined season. You just tinker as long as you feel like it. The play is played by default, but they also have At any time the opportunity to switch to the third-person perspective.
There are a total of 5 game modes (creative mode, survival mode, hardcore mode, adventure mode, spectator mode) and a multiplayer mode, in which you can play and communicate with other players in a world.
Good to know: Minecraft was developed by the Swedish programmer Markus Persson and his company Mojang, which in September 2014 went into possession of Microsoft for $ 2.5 million.
